EXPERIENCE
Michael Martz has quickly established himself as a regional specialist in land acquisition for small- to mid-sized development projects. He has also developed a significant expertise in the leasing of retail and office properties, closing sizeable deals with both local and national clients.

Michael began building his retail and office practice when he joined the Leider Group as a broker in 2003, establishing relationships with firms across the Tri-Counties. Michael is also very experienced in commercial development, as he established and ran a consulting firm that worked extensively with a private group of developers to conduct feasibility studies for development projects in Northern Santa Barbara County. Prior to earning his Masters in Business Administration, Michael gained valuable sales and negotiation skills as the West Coast Sales Representative for Labconco Corp., a laboratory equipment manufacturer.

Michael brings strong analytical skills and a solid background in multiple stages of the commercial real estate deal process. Coupled with his financial aptitude and training, this helps his clients make successful investment decisions whether they are seeking acquisition, development, or leasing. Michael has developed a valuable network of clients and contacts in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, and beyond, gaining experience with many of the area's developers, shopping center owners, retailers, and landlords.

In 2006, Michael completed 31 lease transactions totaling 164,710 square feet with a total value of over $8 million. Notable tenants include Baskin Robbins, Subway, TD Ameritrade, LA Weight Loss, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Santa Barbara Bank & Trust. Michael also completed three sales transactions valued at over $11.5 million. These sales included the historic Old Mill Shops - a 24,000 sf mixed use building in downtown Solvang, CA; The Comfort Inn - a 64 room hotel in Santa Maria, CA; and a commercial building in Goleta, CA.
